Hey guys! How’s it going? Today we have some adjectives to improve our communication in Russian. Let’s get started!

интересный = interesting/interessante

большой = big/grande

длинный = long/longo

короткий = short/curto

высокий = tall/alto

плохой = bad/ruim

легко = easy/fácil

быстрый = fast/rápido

жесткий = hard/difícil

новый = new/novo

старый = old/velho

молодой = young/jovem

низкий = short, low/baixo

длинные = long/longo

светлый = blond/loiro

тёмные = dark/escuro

рыжие = red/ruivo

чёрные = black/preto

короткие = short/curto

средние = medium/médio

Добрый = Good/bom

злой = angry/nervoso, raivoso

невкусный = not tasty/desagradável (sabor)

прекрасный = fine, great, beautiful/Bom, ótimo, bonito.

отвратительный = disgusting/repugnante

красивый = beautiful/belo

некрасивый = not beautiful, ugly/feio.

холодный = cold/frio

горячий = hot/quente

простой = easy/fácil

Exemplos/Examples:

ты высокий или невысокий? = Are you tall or average?/Você é alto ou mediano?

Я высокий = I’m tall/Eu sou alto.

Он маленький = He’s small/Ele é pequeno.

Он низкий = He’s short./Ele é baixo.

Она не высокая. = She’s not tall.

Я не высокая. = I’m not tall./Eu não sou alta.

Я высокий, а ты низкий. = I’m tall and you are short.

Ты грустный? = Are you sad?

Мне грустно. = I’m sad.

почему ты грустишь?. = Why are you sad?

Почему ты счастлив? = Why are you happy?

У меня длинные волосы. = I have a long hair.

Ваши волосы длинные или короткие? = Is your hair long or short?

Мои волосы темные. = My hair is dark.

У Татьяны светлые волосы. = Tatiana has a blond hair.

Ваши волосы румяна. = Your hair is red.

Это скучно. = This is boring.

Но это интересно. = But that’s interesting.

Чай холодный или горячий? = Is the tea cold or hot?

Это просто. = This is easy.

Изучать языки сложно. = Learning languages is difficult.

Это легко для вас? = Is it easy for you?

У меня есть новый друг. = I have a new friend.

Это хороший фильм. = This is a good movie.

Мария моя подруга. = Maria is my friend.

Это плохой фильм = This is a bad movie.

злой человек = angry person.

В России вкусная еда. = Russia has a tasty food.

Этот торт невкусный. = This cake is not tasty.

Он старый = He’s old.

Она молодая. = She’s young.

Эта великолепная идея. = This is a great idea.

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
